A "Hip-Hopera"

Homies & Popz is a "Hip Hopera" which was inspired by the story of the Compton H&Pz cricket team.

It was preformed in 10 local high schools, with real opera stars playing the lead roles and each school's chorus learning and performing the parts of team members, fans, youth gangs, homeless men and family members.

Unprecedented in its scope, the project was commissioned by the Los Angeles Opera which invested over $100,000 in the production. Not only was the project critically acclaimed, but it was hugely popular with students, cricket fans and opera lovers alike.
